Ready to brush up on your Garba/Raas moves before Navratri season? Or maybe, you've seen Garba and are curious to learn? Or. just like the idea of dancing in a welcoming space without staying out late?
Come join DANCE IN THE ROUND! Our next session is just in time for Navratri season, and all ages, levels, and abilities are welcome. --------------------------
In Dance In The Round, choreographer/dancer Parijat Desai teaches Garba and Raas--circle dances from Gujarat, India.
After an invigorating warmup, Parijat guides you into the basic steps of Garba -- and before you know it, you're traveling around the circle. She'll be joined by dancers who demonstrate and help new folks.
If you already know how to garba, we welcome you to show off your style and boost the collective energy. And, we'll finish up the session with learning Raas (with dandiya or sticks).
DRESS: Comfortable loose bottoms or long skirts suggested. Chania and/or kurtas are welcome, but not required. No shoes on dance floor. If your feet need support, please bring a pair of indoor shoes to wear in studio. Bring water.
KID POLICY: Instruction is geared to adults of all ages and young people 11 and up. Kids under 11 must attend with an adult. Kids under 8 must be with an adult at all times. For very small children under 5, two adults present is recommended.
KID TICKET POLICY: A ticket is required for each child age 5 and up.
