QPRT: Suicide Risk Assessment, Treatment, and Management Training, A CDTC Event
Goal of Training
QPRT is a form of Suicide Risk Assessment which stands for Question, Persuade, Refer, Treat. Developed as a method for helping professionals, QPRT provides a better way for assessing an assisting those persons at elevated risk for suicidal behaviors. This training will teach you about populations with elevated risks, especially as it relates to substance use.  The training will assist those working with clients to assess, screen, and treatment plan for those determined to be at risk for suicide.  Documentation will be an area of focus including ethical issues in managing patients at risk for suicide.

This suicide prevention training is geared to help all levels of professionals gain competency in the area of suicide prevention.  This training meets the WA State requirements for suicide prevention for all mandated professionals.  It is a fast-paced course that will address the needs of the provider in communicating and assessing the suicidal person that presents in primary care or mental health settings.

Behavioral Objectives
This training will provide participants with the ability to:
  - Learn to identify and screen patients who are at risk,
  - Identify populations at greatest risk,
  - Learn how to ask questions and manage the conversation about suicide risk,
  - Identify next steps to take following identification of risk to improve patient outcomes, and
  - Learn to establish a safety plan.

This course has been approved by CDTC as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for educational credits. NAADAC Provider #100385. CDTC is responsible for all aspects of their programing. Course provides 6 CEU hours for certified and licensed professionals.

Julie A. Rickard, Ph.D.
Dr. Rickard, a licensed psychologist, graduated from Washington State University in 2004.  She is the Program Director for American Behavioral Health Systems - Parkside in Wenatchee, WA which has a Crisis Stabilization and Evaluation & Treatment Units.  She is most well known throughout the Northwest region for the Primary Care Behavioral Health model of integrating psychologists into medical settings, coaching physicians, suicide prevention, and is a highly sought-after speaker on a variety of topics.
 
She founded the Suicide Prevention Coalition of North Central Washington in 2012 due to the rise in local suicides.  She has continued to direct SPCNCW and trained 1300 health professionals in suicide prevention assessment and treatment over the past 2 years.  The coalition has been successful at reducing the local suicide rate and raising awareness and skill level for providers managing these ongoing patients.  She continues to push all health agencies to focus on reducing suicide risk through evidenced based practice and screening.

The CDTC Refund/Cancellation Policy:
For full refund, cancellation of attendance must be received by the CDTC at least 3 days prior to the event.

Cancellations made in less than 3 days of the event are subject to a $15 handling charge. Occasionally, changes are made due to speaker availability or unforeseen circumstances. The CDTC will send out an email announcement to the registration contact and provide an update on our website.

If we are aware of bad weather in the area, the CDTC will extend the full refund deadline to include the morning of the training. The CDTC still must receive notice of cancellation of attendance prior to 10 a.m.

Lunch: There is a one hour lunch break on your own.
