RAFFLE & PRIZE INFORMATION
Raffle prizes will include:
(1) A signed and framed print of "The Backbone of Night" by Jon Lomberg. Jon Lomberg painted this image at the suggestion of Carl Sagan, who later used it as the title graphic for an episode of the television series COSMOS.
(2) A signed and framed print of "The Ocean Planet" by Herb Kane & Jon Lomberg. The artists have collaborated in a portrait of the Pacific Ocean seen from space. Islands are sprinkled through the sea like the stars dotting the night sky.
(3) The conductor's baton and autographed performance score of the chamber symphony "The Backbone of Night" by Dan Cook. The baton is manufactured by Mollard and features an engraving that reads "Aires Above Ground: The Backbone of Night." The baton is constructed with a Pau Ferro handle and carbon fiber body. Pau Ferro was recently selected by Fender to use as a replacement source for their guitar's rosewood fretboards. Pau Ferro wood is CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) certified.
