King of Kings: epic 1927 silent movie with live organ accompaniment
The King of Kings is the Greatest Story Ever Told as only Cecil B. DeMille could tell it. In 1927, working with one of the biggest budgets in Hollywood history, DeMille spun the life and Passion of Christ into a silent-era blockbuster. Featuring text drawn directly from the Bible, a cast of thousands, and the great showmans singular cinematic bag of tricks, The King of Kings is at once spectacular and deeply reverentpart Gospel, part Technicolor epic.
David Briggs, international concert organist and virtuoso improviser will make up a live score to the movie, performed on the cathedral's massive pipe organ, built in 1910 and comprising five keyboards and over 8,500 individual pipes!
The movie will be shown on a massive 40 screen inside the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City, the worlds largest gothic cathedral. You dont want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event!
