Sam Stephenson & Allan Gurganus Book Talk: Gene Smith's Sink
Writer and documentarian Sam Stephensonreturns home to celebrate his new book, Gene Smiths Sink, in conversation with novelist Allan Gurganus. Come hear how legendary photographer W. Eugene Smiths custom-made stainless steel darkroom sink became Stephensons writing desk in Durham and other stories from Stephenson's twenty years following Smiths trail around the world. This one-hour program features a reading by Stephenson, a short film based on a chapter in the book by the Brooklyn filmmaker, Jem Cohen, and Q&A moderated by the Gurganus.
6pm: cocktail hour with passed snacks
7pm: reading, film, & Q&A with signing to follow
Books will be available for purchase courtesy of downtown Durhams Letters Bookshop. There is no charge for attendance. Snacks will be provided and drinks will be available for purchase.
