Sybarite5 -FUTURE SHOCK- at the cell (LAB SERIES 1)

SYBARITE5, a string quintet dedicated to mold-breaking programming, returns to cell as the 2018 ensemble in residence to create new experimental LAB series of premieres.

This concert features a world premiere composition by Michael Gilberston for Sybarite5. The ensemble then joins forces with world renowned percussionist Shane Shanahan for the quintet premiere of Future Shock by William Britelle, & Alabama by John Coltrane. The concert also includes a new collaboration with trumpet virtuoso Brandon Ridenour, I.C.U. by Robert Paterson, and the quintet premiere of My Desert, My Rose by Alexandra Vrebalov. #newmusic

Comprised of Sami Merdinian and Sarah Whitney, violins; Angela Pickett, viola; Laura Metcalf, cello; and Louis Levitt, bass, Sybarite5 has taken audiences around the US by storm. From Radiohead to Mozart, this group of talented, diverse musicians has changed the perception of chamber music performance.
