City Soul '17
Navasha Daya, the internationally renowned singer, songwriter, composer, producer and choreographer (and former vocalist of Fertile Ground) will headline City Soul '17, a soul/jazz concert on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Beth Am Synagogue, 2501 Eutaw Place, Baltimore. Also featured on the bill are Baltimore artists Blaqstarr, the Ancestral Duo, and Temple.
The concert is a benefit for the Reservoir Hill Improvement Council, which unites, empowers, and mobilizes residents and organizations to act on issues affecting the Reservoir Hill community. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and music begins at 8:00 p.m.
Widely acclaimed as a breathtaking performer, Navasha Daya's live show fuses her eclectic mix of soul-jazz, funk and world rhythms. On stage, she embodies the indigenous feminine spirit and inspires women throughout the world. She was lead vocalist, songwriter and co-founder of the highly acclaimed Baltimore-based soul/jazz band, Fertile Ground. She has released two well-received albums since beginning her solo career. She has also toured as a guest artist, singing with Grammy-winners Sweet Honey and the Rock.
Navasha Daya's impact reaches far beyond the stage and recording studio. A music educator and committed arts activist, she is co-founder and director of the Healing & Performing Arts of the Youth Resiliency Institute, which uses the arts to mobilize and bring change and equity in the community.
