A collaboration of 2 unique and deeply affecting musicians. Legendary fiddler and multi-string master Darol Anger focuses his talents in service of the singer-songwriter's art. Emy Phelps is a standout artist in a large field: a prolific songwriter with a riveting voice which plumbs the deepest emotions. In combination, these 2 musicians bring out each other's special ability to convey deep emotional resonance combined with a bit of hot pickin'.
The Gather Rounders features both talented bluegrass veterans and exciting fresh faces. Lincoln Meyers (guitar, vocals) had toured for years with national bands Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen and The April Verch Band. Ron Cody (banjo) has recordings that have been featured on All Things Considered, The Thistle and the Shamrock and Sirius Radio. Zach Ovington (fiddle, mandolin, vocals) has been a singer and multi-instrumentalist in the New England folk, bluegrass and jazz scene for over 10 years. His music is based in southern folk music learned during childhood with Irish and traditional jazz influences from time spent in the north. Wendy Cody (bass) has performed throughout the area as part of the venerable New England Bluegrass Band. Together, The Gather Rounders makes a brand of modern bluegrass rooted in tradition yet infused with inventive verve.
