Maine Middle Eastern Ensemble and Josephina
Maine Middle Eastern Ensemble performs art and folk music from the Turkish, Arabic and Armenian traditions. Led by oud player, Eric LaPerna, the group also features violinist, Michael Gallant; guitarist
Jeremey Zela and percussionist, Doug Andrews. For this special event they will be joined by belly dancer, Josephina Gasca.
Josephina believes in the transformative power of dance. She began belly dancing in Chicago in 1998 with Jasmin Jahal. After moving to the East Coast in 2003, she found home with Jamileh, her mentor and friend. Josephina currently performs, teaches, and hosts many area events in Mid Coast Maine. While she loves to perform, teaching is her greatest joy.
