Pumpkintown: a fictional village where the soundscape is 18th and 19th century sea ballads, fiddle tunes and afro/celtic gospel. This hard-driving Trio de Pumpkintown (Tim Eriksen joined by Zoe Darrow and Peter Irvine) blends fiddle, banjo, glockenspiel, guitar and bajo sexto (an twelve-string Mexican bass) on bare bones solo unaccompanied singing, stripped-down voice and bajo sexto, and lush, multi-layered arrangements of northern roots American music. They keep the true vine growing with innovative originals, but feed the roots with deep American folk tradition.
