The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's 2013-14 Season Ticket
Join CMSCVA for a season of chamber music all about time - from Haydn's "Clock" Symphony, to Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of Time," from a middle-period Beethoven string quartet performed in a historic home to an entire festival of Baroque music performed on period instruments.

This discounted Ticket Package includes the following:

Fall Music
With the Aeolus String Quartet

House Concert and Reception: "Early, Middle and Late"
Friday October 25, 7:30pm
The Ellen Glasgow House, 1 W. Main Street, Richmond
The rising stars of the Aeolus Sting Quartet return to CMSCVA to perform an intimate house concert at the Glasgow House, featuring a late quartet of Haydn, Beethoven's monumental Quartet in F opus 59 No 1, and American composer Christopher Theophanidis's "Ariel Ascending." Seating at this venue is limited so reserve your tickets early to hear early, middle and late period music in a uniquely Richmond setting. Please note, the Glasgow House is not handicapped accessible.

"Time"
Sunday January 5th, 4:00pm
Bon Air Presbyterian Church,  9201 W. Huguenot Rd., Richmond
The passing of the four seasons is brought to life in music by 19th century composer Carl Fruehling and Lithuanian composer Onatu Narbutaite. Concepts of time are further explored in the "Clock" Symphony of Haydn and a piece by American composer Roger Zare inspired by the theories of Alfred Einstein.

"The End of Time"
Tuesday January 7th, 7:30pm
Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W. Huguenot Rd., Richmond
Olivier Messaien's monumental "Quartet for the End of Time" forms the inspiration for this concert that also includes powerful music of Phillip Glass and Franz Liszt's musical representation of Raphael's "Sposalizio."

A House Concert with Carsten Schmidt and a Spectacular Harpsichord

House Concert - "The French Connection"
Sunday February 9th, 4:00pm
The Home of Jennifer Cable and David Lingerfelt, Manakin-Sabot
Carsten Schmidt kickstarts our Baroque spring with an intimate house concert of glorious Baroque music by French composers and their German admirers, performed on a spectacular harpsichord recently made by Cornelis Bom, and in a unique 1910 country house converted from a horse stable.  Note: seating at this venue is limited, please reserve your tickets early.

"2014 Richmond Festival of the Baroque"
Glorious Baroque music inspired by history and time, performed on period instruments by musicians from Richmond, the USA and around the world.

"Rule Britannia"
Friday April 4, 7:30pm
Church of the Holy Comforter, 4819 Monument Ave., Richmond
This opening concert features 100 years of spectacular instrumental and vocal music from England's best Baroque composers. From the Elizabethan songs of Dowland to the sophisticated concertos of Handel, this concert will bring English Baroque to Richmond-upon-the-James.

"Night Music"
Saturday April 5, 7:30pm
Church of the Holy Comforter, 4819 Monument Ave., Richmond
Experience the mysterious beauty of nighttime as conveyed in music ranging from Biber's "Serenade of the Nightwatchmen," to Vivaldi's phantasmal "La Notte," and Bach's glorious cantata "Aus der Tiefen rufe ich."

"Café Zimmerman"
Sunday April 6, 4:00pm
Church of the Holy Comforter, 4819 Monument Ave., Richmond
In 18th century Leipzig, Zimmerman's coffeehouse was the place to be for the hottest composers in European chamber music. Today, in 21st century Richmond, hear some of this same virtuoso instrumental music and Bach's famous ode to joe, the "Coffee Cantata".
