This skills camp is for people interested in becoming NOVA Roller Derby skaters, and will review basic derby skills prior to our September 2013 Fresh Meat class tryouts!
Current skaters will be on hand to walk you through basics skating form, stops and falls. FULL GEAR is required for this event - quad skates, knee/elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guard and a helmet (bike helmets are not permitted). We will have a limited amount of loaner gear available - if you're not able to get gear prior to this event, please indicate that when you register and we will be in touch.
This session is for prospective skaters without prior derby experience. If you are looking to transfer to our league, please email recruitment@novarollerderby.com! Spectators are not permitted on the court, but are welcome to sit on the second level. As people are coming to learn, this is not a spectator-style event!
All skaters must pre-register, as walk ups will not be accepted. Due to limited space, non-skating admission is not available at this time. Signs up will be limited to the first 30 skaters.
Please make sure you bring a valid photo ID and a copy of your insurance card with you for verification. We will be in touch prior to the event with any additional details! We can't wait to meet you!
