Choose Happiness: A Free Public Talk @ the DMA
ENJOY A DAY OUT AT THE DMA! Enjoy a free talk and meditation with American Buddhist Monk Gen Kelsang Menla. Delicious lunches are available in the museums cafe or just across the street from the many food trucks at Klyde Warren Park. Free self-guided audio tours of the Asian Art Collection will be available before and after the talk. Join us for this annual special event!
ABOUT THE TALK At this special event, American Buddhist Monk Gen Kelsang Menla will explain methods that free us from negative emotions, making joy, happiness and meaning our everyday reality. Everyone is welcome!
We each want to be truly happy and free from problems. This is the common wish of all living beings. Each day we make many choices and work very hard to fulfill this wish, yet we are often still seeking the satisfaction we desire. Modern Buddhism presents meditations and training the mind techniques that enable us to tap into an inner source of peace, happiness, and contentment. By learning to use these methods in daily life we can choose real and lasting happiness!
ABOUT THE SPEAKER Gen Kelsang Menla was ordained as a Kadampa Buddhist monk in 2001 and has taught Kadampa Buddhism since that time. Gen Menla has also completed temple renovation projects in Baltimore, Albuquerque and our own temple here in Dallas. He brings a warm heart and joyful attitude to sharing Buddhas teachings and the practice of meditation.
