Ace in the Hole
ACE IN THE HOLE is a story of greed and corruption set against the New Mexico landscape. Based on a real story from the 1920s, the film follows Chuck Tatum (Kirk Douglas), a big town reporter who's lost his job because of unscrupulous conduct and drinking. Tatum thinks he's hit the jackpot when, by chance, he learns of a miner trapped in a cave-in. Tatum realizes the incident could be headline grabbing news, and his ticket back to the big city papers, if there is suspense in the rescue. Determined to make the story his own, Tatum manipulates the rescue creating a carnival-like atmosphere with disastrous results.
