Kaley Pruitt Dance at Triskelion Arts
Kaley Pruitt Dance is excited to bring three New York City premieres to Triskelion Arts this July 27, 28 & 29. The season will include a world premiere Through All This & You and two works that have been in the creative process this year, Critical Mass and Room for Elephants. Pruitt dances alongside company members and collaborators Cassandra Bowser, Ashley Ervin, Robert Perales, Jen Silver & Megan Wubbenhorst
Critical Mass revolves around the powerful force of being anonymous, and what the urban landscape allows of the human expressive condition. It is an incredibly physical, athletic, and high-energy group work to music by Too Many Zooz, Steve Reich, and World Saxophone Quartet.
Room for Elephants is a nostalgic, playful, and otherworldly quartet about how we retain structures and physical places that held our sense of home at one time or another. The work looks at memory, and how we keep and perceive those spaces we cannot revisit. The piece is set to several selections by Tin Hat Trio.
Through All This & You is a fun, light hearted suite of dances that reveals the subtle, often attempting to be hidden, nuances in human relationships. We take ourselves too seriously; this dance has luscious moments of ridiculousness and awkwardness. The piece explores the many forms of love, play, competition, care, voyeurism, and how those can meld and trigger the next. This work is about people being with people.
Tickets are $16 in advance, $20 at the door, and $12 for students.
Performances 8pm nightly July 27-29 at Muriel Schulman Theater at Triskelion Arts, 106 Calyer St Brooklyn, NY
