Richie Williams: From Mississippi to Manhattan - The American Songbook

Richie Williams- has been referred to as the downtown Bobby Short. As a poet, singer and Jazz Historian, he seems to carry the entire cannon in his hip pocket. In this performance, he takes the audience on a musical journey. He begins in Mississippi, where the roots of the blues took hold and travels through Chi-town and into the lower east side of Manhattan where, an enormous well of talent blended all of these influences into our beloved and timeless American Songbook. Richies voice and style mimic the mellow tones of both Nat and his brother Freddie Cole. This, coupled with his charismatic charm, funny-bone good humor and off the cuff style, serve up a fun filled and edgy performance that leaves The American Song Book Smiling! Richie has performed at numerous venues beginning his career at Barry Harriss, legendary Jazz Culture Theatre. He has also performed at many venues in Manhattan including, The Triad, Dont Tell Mama and St. Peters (The Jazz Church). He is a mainstay in the Big Apples thriving jazz cabaret scene including, Thalias, Zebs, Kitanos and Rue B. He is accompanied by Takaaki Otomo on Piano and Yoshi Waki on bass.

Seating at Pangea is communal. Other guests may be seated at the table. There is a $20 per person food or beverage minimum at the tables. DINNER SEATING BEGINS AT 6:30PM.

Please arrive one half hour prior to the show and allow additional time if you are planning to have a dinner.

Late arrivals will be seated at managements discretion.
