Portugal Day Dinner at Aldea

On Thursday, June 8, Chef George Mendes of Michelin-starred Aldea will welcome James Beard nominated Chef Abe Conlon of Chicago's Fat Rice for a one-night-only guest chef dinner in honor of Portugal Day, which celebrates the country's historic global explorations. A Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient, at Fat Rice Conlon serves the home-style comfort food of Macau, the last established territory in the Portuguese empire. Macanese cuisine blends the exotic ingredients and flavors of China, India, and Southeast Asia with the colonial roots of the Portuguese travelers.

The evening will begin with a wine and canapé reception, followed by a four-course meal that pays homage to this unique fusion of culinary influences. Each course will be paired with a wine from the list of 50 Great Portuguese Wines selected by a panel of Master Sommeliers, and wine ambassador Eugenio Jardim from Wines of Portugal will be on hand to walk guests through the experience.
