DOWN THE MEMORY HOLE OF SOCIALISM

Please join us Sunday, April 30th for an emotional and uplifting afternoon as refugees share their compelling personal stories of life under socialism, and demonstrate how socialists erase societal memory to control the people. Their stories will be interspersed with three short films on political prisoners in socialist Bulgaria, forced organ harvesting in China today, and the Washington premiere of Promises, Promises: How the Communists Betrayed the Cuban People. The speakers fled socialism in Czechoslovakia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Vietnam and Cuba. Actress and Bulgarian refugee Lilia Slavova will emcee.

The event, which will be held at the Botev Academy in Silver Spring in the afternoon, promises to make a profound and lasting impact on all who attend. Refreshments and Bulgarian food will be available from a commercial vendor. The program will be followed by an hour of Bulgarian music and dance.
