RailFest
HAMBURG RAILFEST 2017 will be held at the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum in Hamburg PA on August 11, 12, and 13, 2017.
Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of two Reading Railroad locomotives, the first to display the logo of the Readings innovative Bee-Line Service. See, hear, and photograph these giants of industry!
On both Saturday and Sunday in the festival atmosphere at the Museum, visitors will enjoy the 112-foot model railroad featuring scenes of the Reading Railroad, special demonstrations, photos entered in the Railfest photo contest, great music, barbeque and local foods. Children may ride the Munchkin Railway and enjoy crafts and games. In the Museum building, visit a special exhibit, Making a Bee-Line, telling the story of the Reading Railroads innovative freight delivery service. Former Reading Railroad employees are invited to join in reminiscing at a roundtable on Saturday.
View the rest of the Reading Company Technical and Historical Societys large collection of Reading Railroad locomotives, freight and passenger equipment in the rail yard. Guides will answer questions and show cars with special uses. Also on site, vendors offering railroadiana and books.
A rail excursion on Friday evening Aug 11 will travel on the Allentown & Auburn Railroad from Kutztown PA. Advance reservation only.
By advance reservation, Saturday night will feature a banquet with special speaker and a night photo session illuminating the 50th anniversary locomotives.

RAIL EXCURSION - Friday, August 11, 2017 7PM $20
Enjoy the scenic beauty of the evening countryside along the Allentown & Auburn Railroad. Travel the rails of the of the former Reading Railroad Kutztown branch. Visit the shop and yard in Topton before the return trip where you will see railroad equipment in former Reading Company paint schemes. Trip leaves from the station in Kutztown PA. Unassigned seats. Arrive at the Kutztown Station by 6:40 PM. Rain or shine.

Celebrate the festival at the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum. Ticket includes indoor and outdoor exhibits, music, demonstrations, Reading Railroad employees round table, opportunities for photography, and more.

Featured locomotives #6300 and #5308 will be illuminated for your photographs. Limit 25 people. Participants MUST have a tripod and a camera with open shutter capability.
