Daytime activities on Friday, May 19th

9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Special "How it's Done" Tours of the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works
with Eric Boynton. (Limited to 15 people per tour. $10) Priority given to pre-registered guests and event sponsors. Location: 130 E. Swamp Rd., Rt. 313.

The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works is maintained as a working museum where handmade tiles are still produced in a manner similar to that developed by the pottery's founder, Henry Chapman Mercer (1856-1930). Witness the unique tile making process from the raw clay to the finished glazed product, developed over a century ago and emulated by many tile makers to this day. More about:

1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Special Tile Tours of Fonthill Castle with Vance Koehler.
(Limited to 15 people per tour. $15) Priority given to pre-registered guests and event sponsors. Location: 525 E. Court St., Doylestown.

Henry Mercer was a tile maker nearly ten years before he designed and started to build Fonthill, his fantastical concrete, castle-like residence in Doylestown. Naturally, he chose the products of his business, the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, to enrich and decorate it. This special tour will explore the unique tiles and tile themes created by Mercer for his own house, along with the rare antique foreign tiles he collected and installed throughout it during his lifetime. More about Fonthill: https://www.mercermuseum.org/visit/fonthill-castle/about/
