This Is My Brave - encore performance at Briar Woods High School
Join us on Sunday, October 26th at 3:30pm at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, VA, as we bring an encore performance of the May 2014 debut This Is My Brave show to Loudoun County. Seven cast members will share their stories of hope and recovery from mental illness through music, poetry and essays. Following the performance will be an "Ask the Doctor" open Question and Answer opportunity for the audience with our Advisory Board member Dr. Mark Komrad, a psychiatrist on the clinical and teaching staff of Sheppard Pratt Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and Nick Gentile, LPC, President of the Potomac Psychological Center in Ashburn, VA.
This Is My Brave, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, provides a community and platform for people living with mental illness to speak out to end the stigma associated with mental health disorders. Our mission is to ignite and actively promote - through community programs and social media - a positive, supportive national conversation about mental illness for those who live with, or love someone who lives with, a mental illness.
Through the sharing of stories and experiences of those in recovery, we expect to provide a sense of community and hope; and encourage others to share their stories. We believe that each time one of us shares our story, there's another crack helping to break down the stigma of mental illness. It's time to be brave and bring mental health issues into the spotlight because they've been in the dark too long.
