Copious Love's completely original "7 Deadly Birthdays," is a comedic large ensemble play exploring what it means to grow up as a recovering Catholic.
7 Deadly Birthdays follows our rebellious heroine Madeline Ruth Winafred MacMorran through seven of her most influential birthdays and a lifetime's worth of sin. She encounters the 7 Deadly Sins from childhood to her "guilt ridden prime of life" as Maddie embraces her Greed, Envy, Gluttony, Pride, Lust, Wrath, and Sloth without question. After all you get away with everything on your birthday! Maddie's life is full of her Catholic family, friends, enemies and the congregation at St. Anthony's, a typical Catholic church where gossip flows like communal wine and Mother Superior is at least 100 years old. Will Madeline MacMorran learn any life lessons or succumb to a life of rebellion? In her own words: "Once a Catholic, always a sinner."
Copious Love creates all original theatre from conception to curtains in a process that takes less then a year. 7 Deadly Birthdays is going to showcase this unique and exciting production process and we are throwing it like a party! The bar is going to be staffed and cocktailed by "naughty nuns" who will be taking drink orders throughout the performance, join the congregation in Mother Superior's hymns during the play and make sure to visit the confession booth to remove some weight from your soul. Relive your Catholic childhood and watch Madeline make every move we probably would have, if God weren't watching.
Our goal is to present theatrical events that engage and entertain and 7 Deadly Birthdays is sure to do both. More than anything this is going to be a really fun night of theatre.
