PAINTING THE SKELETAL AND MUSCULAR STRUCTURE OF THE HORSE ON A LIVE CANVAS
Have you ever been overwhelmed when trying to understand the anatomy of an injury or localizing where a swelling or sore muscle was located? Or just want to understand how your Equine's body works for you. Clinic participants will learn the anatomy of the horse by palpating anatomical structures and painting the bones and muscles on a living four legged canvas with non-toxic tempura paints. Biomechanics will then be visualized and discussed when watching the horse during movement with its bones and muscles visible. This clinic is designed for all levels and ages of horse enthusiasts. This clinic will start promptly at 9:00 AM. You will be painting so wear clothes that are comfortable and that you dont minds getting paint. Safe footwear to be around horses in a must. Lunch will be provided at the closing of the Clinic, a short Q and A during lunch will be available. Clinician- Emily Allen, Assistant Professor of Biology and Equine Science at Rowan College at Gloucester County and graduate A Pony Club member Emily is an Assistant Professor at Rowan College at Gloucester County. She teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology in addition to developing and overseeing the equine science program and the education of Animal and Equine Science. She has a M.S. in Organ and Cell Physiology from the University of Delaware. Emily is a graduate A Pony Club member and had competed through intermediate level eventing and 1.1 meter jumpers. She also has a small breeding program focusing on the Oldenburg and Hanoverian Warmblood in Woodstown, NJ.
