Stanley Greenthal & SeaMuse at the Garden House

Beacon Arts welcomes this gifted ensemble to close out our 2016 Garden House Concert Series.

SeaMuse members Stanley and Kip Greenthal, Christos Govetas and Kim Goldov bring together many years, and many miles, of musical tradition to create new compositions as well as inspired arrangements of modern and traditional Balkan and Celic music. Join us for a cozy fall evening at The Garden House and let this lush music carry you away.

Stanley Greenthal is an internationally acclaimed songwriter and instrumentalist, who stretches musical borders from Scotland, Ireland and Brittany to Greece and the Balkans. He sings and plays guitar, bouzouki, laouto and lavta (Greek and Turkish lutes). Self-taught on guitar and bouzouki, he has explored world folk music cultures, traveling widely through England, Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and Greece where the traditional players and singers profoundly influenced him.

Kip Greenthal, Stanley's wife and long time collaborator, adds harmony vocals and percussion, and compelling spoken word pieces set to music.

Christos Govetas is a gifted multi-instrumentalist and brings his authentic voice and earthy clarinet style from his homeland in Eastern Macedonia. After moving to this country in his teens, Christos discovered his love of traditional music and went on to learn regional music from all over Greece, and beyond. In addition to the clarinet, Christos plays the zourna, bouzouki and outi, bringing his 30 years of performing experience to the mix. In addition to leading Dromeno, Christos also plays with Pasatempo Rebetika and Ziyia.

Kim Goldov on violin has long been performing folk music from around the world, including the popular local Balkan dance band extravaganza, the Bucharest Drinking Team. He also plays klezmer music from Eastern Europe, and has performed with Radost Folk Ensemble, Kosher Red Hots, and (Turkish folk group) Yeni Ses.
