CLARA RODRIGUEZ , "Alma llanera"(Soul of the Plains)
Acclaimed Venezuelan pianist Clara Rodríguez plays a concert in the heart of London at St. James's Piccadilly on SATURDAY 16th APRIL 2016 at 7.30 pm

"Alma llanera"(Soul of the Plains) is a vibrant insight into the rich diversity of the music catalogue of Latin America with infectious, heart-warming music that lifts the spirits and makes you want to smile by the pre-eminent exponent of the Latin American piano music on the world stage Clara Rodríguez.

These exotic melodies and rhythms from distant lands will emerge as a kaleidoscope of emotions and fleeting sensations by the pre-eminent exponent of this repertoire on the world stage, Clara Rodríguez.

The contrasting landscapes presented lyrically and passionately, with humor and deep humanity will be revealed for the public as poetic mirrors, reflecting the rich and tormented soul of a continent.

"Alma Llanera" (Soul of the Plains) will offer you amazing sound paintings from the North to the South of the Americas.

Preludes by George Gershwin ancestral dances by Ariel Ramirez, tangos by Ernesto Nazareth to the famous Joropo "Alma Llanera" by Pedro Elias Gutierrez, from Children's songs by Antonio Estevez to the Portrait of Aldemaro Romero by Juan Carlos Núñez, without forgetting the tribute to Simon Díaz and "Travel in Apure" by Genaro Prieto.

Clara will be joined on stage by three special guests: from Venezuela the famous percussionist Nené Quintero and from the UK the poet-translator Timothy Adès , who will recite excerpts from one of the most popular poems of Los Llanos, "Florentino and the Devil," by the Venezuelan Alberto Arvelo Torrealba. Thomas Lyttelton will take the role of Florentino.
