Much Ado About Nothing - Montgomery Blair High School

THE MONTGOMERY BLAIR PLAYERS' MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

After winning a war against his half-brother Don John, Don Pedro of Aragon decides to stay a while with his friend Leonato, governor of Messina. Don Pedro's friend Claudio is in love with Leonato's daughter Hero and the two plan to marry in a week's time. But Don John, angry at his overthrow, plots to ruin their happiness and he persuades Claudio and Don Pedro that Hero is unfaithful.

Unaware of Don John's deceits, Claudio, Hero and Don Pedro have been amusing themselves by playing a trick on two of their friends. Beatrice and Benedick who are always at each others' throats, arguing every time they meet. So the men trick Benedick into believing that Beatrice is in love with him, while the women deceive Beatrice into accepting that Benedick is desperately in love with her.

This is the state of affairs when everybody arrives at the wedding where, thanks to Don John's plot, the innocent Hero is rejected and disgraced by Claudio. Thankfully, the bumbling town watchmen, led by the hilariously incompetent Constable Dogberry, are on hand to arrest two of Don John's henchmen

All of course, works out for the best in this heart-warming tale of love, romance, and misunderstanding. Aided by a live mariachi band and a spectacular Central American setting, Montgomery Blair Players' production of this funny and moving Shakespeare comedy, set in their intimate 200-seater theatre, is a treat for all the family.

Online ticket sales end a few hours before each show. If a show does not appear on the sale list and it is within a few hours of showtime please go to the theater as there may still be tickets available. If the show is indeed sold out we will have a waiting list for entry.
