After playing so many characters on stage,Washington favorite, Marilyn Hausfeld, is now singing her own story in a premiere for the Women's Voices Theatre Festival. She and internationally known musical director, Alex Rybeck, have been chosen by Washington Women in Theatre to be their entry in this premiere festival featuring works (from fifty Washington area theatres),  all written by women.

"Just Between Us - A piano, A Mic, A Memory" is an intimate and upbeat autobiographical show. It combines comedy, drama and favorite songs to tell the story of a Jewish girl growing up in a very modest apartment in Brooklyn. Her childhood audition for "The Sound of Music" on Broadway sets her on a path of discovery.

Through the structure of a cabaret act, the audience is invited to share her funny and touching journey. It is at once uniquely personal yet archetypal. A woman follows her love of language and applies it to teaching,marriage, raising kids, experiencing aging and loss and celebrating a very special friendship that unexpectedly leads her back to fulfill unrealized dreams and find her own voice.

From traditional immigrant values( Find a job! Find a husband!) to the more liberated view of contemporary women's lives (Find Yourself!) this is a piece that embodies the essence of humor, allowing us to laugh at the things that are actually serious as a way of transforming ourselves.
